just curious because I hate it and want to get it over with already. it'll probably cause me to stop visiting here altogether soon. :(

If the owners of Jalopnik were smart, they would remove the new comment system. The Jalopnik front page is currently fucked. Pictures don't load, the color scheme is bland and makes the site confusing and not to mention, comments are totally ruined.
Seriously, the Jalopnik front men must not be business men.

I used a cheat code on the Jalopnik front page and went back to the old format.
now i'm scared that cheat code will be patched up.

Keep of the good work. Hopefully Jalopnik will come to its senses soon

The Holy Denton has decreed that Gawker will be using Kinja-Tiger, and so it shall be.
Keep using the /?tiger=off trick to get past the cancer on the FP. Once that is patched I'm sure some smart cookie will come up with a chrome/firefox extension that puts the comments back the way they were.

This is the calm before the storm — but it's coming. I'm hoping for the best, but planning for the worst.

This is true. I'm still browsing the FP as frequent as I was before. If I am forced into this new kinja bullshit I'm packing my bags and returning to tumblr full time. It's been nice hanging out with you all if it ever comes to that. only way I can imagine staying in touch after that would be the guys I play GT6 with on PSN.

I have a friend working on a workaround for this new so called improved commenting system. Hopefully we'll have a plug in for Chrome and firefox.

No Safari plugin?

Can he call it Unfuck Kinja? Then put it on the chrome store, then I can tweet it and email it to all the Gawker staff every day, just to let them know how much I don't approve of this change.

Tiger will eventually take over all the Gawker blogs and sub-blogs. As to when I don't know. Jalopnik is one of the smaller of all the blogs so we end up the beta testers. Hopefully improvements will be made before the Oppo takeover.

Heh, well.. Some of the guys on gawkertech are actually very nice, Steve and Ernie comes to mind. I think the main problem is that most of the gawker sites is nothing like "our" site, we mostly have nice people, the other sites have shitloads of trolls and assholes hence the reason they want to hide most of the comments. That said, if my friend is the first one to make a plugin that works as intended we'll make sure you all can have it, as for the name.. well.. Unfuck Kinja is quite funny, but this guy works for a company that works with Microsoft, so I'm not sure he'd want something like that linked to him :)

But why change a site that works just fine?? It doesn't make sense

That is a very good comment. Jalopnik is a unique site with great members. Most of the people here are normal car guys that make great comments.
That can't be said for the rest of Gawker universe

I can't promise anything, never even thought of safari (I do have a Macbook, never used safari), I just asked my friend if he could take a shot at this.

I'm really bored right now, so I made these.
I spend too much time on the internet.
Wait...
I'm not proud of any of this.

My biggest gripe with the comments is the fact that the gawker higher ups keep touting that user commenting is key to everything that they're trying to achieve. They want us to be able to converse easily...yet, they put a system in place that completely goes against what they 'say' they want.
The most simple solution would have been to keep the current comment system, and allow a down vote option and remove burner accounts. This kills off the majority of trolling, allows down voting to nuke shit posts into obscurity, and if they want, gives the guys behind the scenes a way to track shit posters and remove them.

I think most of us see it like this; "act on Oppo/Jalop as you would act on the pub" Sure, some people like to have his/hers ass handed to him/her, but most of us like to keep a civil tongue.

The funny thing is that it was the last version (or the one before that) that actually got me posting priviliggieeises (how the FUCK do you spell that? Drunk norwegian here), I wrote a comment on something Matt posted, and told him something like this "I know I've been complaining quite a bit mate, but I actually LIKE this new Kinja. Now if you would give me a way to comment without being grayed out I'd be a very happy camper".

Ah I see, and I do realize safari isn't a priority because it not used as much.

I'm sure someone could make something for the safari folks out there as well.

In all honesty, I have learned a massive amount about cars, planes, engines, racing, history, etc from Jalopnik. The list goes on. Members here are intelligent and willing to make smart contributions

I learn stuff every single day, and I love it. I get to talk with a bunch of really cool people, some of them have even become what I'd consider friends. All in all, we shall not let Gawker/Kinja screw us over, we shall prevail.

It's a question of upside down trees. I can't remember if they were decidious or conifers. I think there was a stream in there too.

I don't know about you but I've seen a lot more pop-over video ads lately. That I NEVER saw before.
